Discover the NP 613: Rouen’s New Versatile Workboat

The Port of Rouen is brimming with excitement as it welcomes a new workboat, the NP 613, to its fleet. This cutting-edge vessel, fresh from the Dutch shipyards of Neptune Marine, is poised to revolutionize the port’s maintenance operations. Designed to handle the demanding tasks of maintaining docks and navigational channels, the NP 613 enhances the port’s operational efficiency significantly.

A New Era for Port of Rouen

The arrival of NP 613 marks a pivotal moment for the Port of Rouen. With its impressive dimensions—27 meters in length and 12 meters in width—this vessel is set to succeed the crane pontoon Brotonne, which has served the port for four decades. The NP 613, constructed in 2024, was leased by HAROPA Port of Rouen, with an option to purchase in the future. Arriving at Le Havre on January 19, it underwent a series of tests before making its final journey to Rouen on January 22.

Features and Specifications of NP 613

This powerful workboat is packed with features that position it as a game-changer for the port’s operations:

  • Advanced Cranes: The vessel comes equipped with two cranes, with the more robust crane positioned at the front, providing enhanced operational capability.
  • Lifting Capacity:
  • Reach Height Above Deck Capacity
    8 meters 20 meters 25 tonnes
    20 meters 2 meters 9 tonnes
  • Robust Deck Area: The work deck provides a working area of 173 square meters and can support a load of 8.5 tonnes per square meter.
  • Towing and Pushing Force: It can exert a pulling force of 32 tonnes forward and 24 tonnes in reverse, allowing it to manage demanding tasks with ease.
  • Efficient Seabed Management: A 12-meter-wide water injection leveling bar significantly enhances the efficiency of seabed leveling tasks.

Operational Benefits and Advancements

The NP 613 brings enhanced versatility and functionality to the Port of Rouen. Unlike its predecessor, the Brotonne, NP 613 boasts the ability to perform in the lower Seine estuary, which opens up new operational possibilities. This vessel allows for more frequent leveling of the embouchure, which bolsters channel capacity following dredging operations, ultimately supporting smoother navigation.

A three-week training program is empowering the crew with the skills needed to fully leverage the capabilities of the NP 613. Once this training concludes, the vessel will officially begin its service, promising to streamline and enhance operational procedures at the port.
